Topic: Hockey

Britain's hockey teams have underperformed at these Games, showing flashes of inspiration amid general mediocrity. What has happened since the gold medal-winning team of 1988?

Comments:

As with every sport, we have peaks and troughs in performance. After the hockey team won the last time, there was mass interest in the sport across the country with new youth teams springing up everywhere. I think it is purely a case that interest wanes and children only play the sport in the winter months in schools rather than all year round which is what is needed.
