RULES IN BRIEF Coaches may give orders to the team during a match while standing in a specified area Coaches are allowed six substitutions per set beyond the libero Substitutes may enter the game once per set, replacing only a starting player and being replaced only by the same player Only front-row players may block a shot A player may block the ball before it goes over the net, as long as that player does not touch the net or interfere with an opponent A block is not counted as a hit The ball cannot touch the net or a player from the same team on the serve Players cannot block opponents from viewing a serve Each team is allowed two time-outs per set
