THE TAKING PART

Nations, not individuals, qualify for the Games in shooting. Most shooters qualify through international competitions such as world championships and world cup events, and must meet an international selection standard. Of the 410 shooters expected in Sydney, 28 will be wild-card entries chosen by the International Shooting Sport Federation. Two shooters are allowed per nation, though a third can be added if one of 12 places allotted through points quotas.
