RULES IN BRIEF Gymnasts must land in a standing position with the legs together when dismounting after a routine. Gymnasts are penalised 0.40 points if they need help during routines On the horizontal bar and rings, a gymnast may be helped on to the apparatus by a coach of the team-mate Bandages and leather grips are allowed to be worn No instruction may be given to gymnasts during routines Gymnasts may not leave the arena during competition without official permission Penalties are given for unsporting behaviour Exercises may not be repeated unless the first attempt is interrupted through no fault of the gymnast.
