THE TAKING PART

About 130 divers are scheduled to compete in Sydney, with no more than two divers per nation allowed in each of the eight events. There are A and B qualifying standards, which could be achieved at the 1999 or 2000 diving World Cups, or at continental championships, national Olympic trials and certain grand prix events. Britain has already selected Tony Ali, Leon Taylor and Peter Waterfield, the latter pair, a synchronised team that qualified by finishing third at the 2000 diving World Cup in Sydney this year. Australia, as host, gets an automatic entry.
