CRAIG MACLEAN (31-7-71)

Born in Grantown on Spey, Scotland. He moved to Manchester to cut out travelling from Scotland to the Manchester Velodrome. He has an HND in musical instrument technology. Among the many jobs he has had, MacLean has been an undertaker, musician and piano tuner. His father was a member of the British junior downhill and slalom ski squad. MacLean has been a national track champion many times over. Last year the trio of MacLean, Chris Hoy and Jason Queally won the European Olympic Sprint and silver medal at the World Championships in the Olympic Sprint. At the 1998 Commonwealth Games, representing Scotland, he was fifth in both the 1km and Sprint events. He will compete in the Olympic Sprint, Sprint and Keiren in Sydney, his first Olympic Games.
