There are two types of "official" accident; recognised and unrecognised
Falls, punctures or breakage of cycle parts are "recognised" accidents
and carryy no penalty
Failures that stem from poor mechanical maintenance, such as loosly
fitted wheels, are "unrecognised" accidents and lead to disqualification
Helmets are compulsory
A final lap bell is sounded
Riders must not overtake on the inside of a cylist riding inside the
"sprinter's line"
Protests must be written
In individual pursuit, a rider who causes more than two races to be
stopped is disqualified
ROAD
While cyclists may render assistance to each other for the purpose of
repairs, pushing a teammate along is strictly forbidden
Protective windscreens and other aerodynamic aids are not allowed
"Drafting" is not allowed in the time trial: a catching cyclist must
leave a 2m gap between himself/herself and the rival being caught. Equally,
the caught rider must not fall into the catching cyclist's slipstream, and
must also observe the 2m rule
