RULES IN BRIEF

TRACK

  • Protective windscreens and other aerodynamic aids are not allowed
  • There are two types of "official" accident; recognised and unrecognised
  • Falls, punctures or breakage of cycle parts are "recognised" accidents and carryy no penalty
  • Failures that stem from poor mechanical maintenance, such as loosly fitted wheels, are "unrecognised" accidents and lead to disqualification
  • Helmets are compulsory
  • A final lap bell is sounded
  • Riders must not overtake on the inside of a cylist riding inside the "sprinter's line"
  • Protests must be written
  • In individual pursuit, a rider who causes more than two races to be stopped is disqualified

    ROAD

  • While cyclists may render assistance to each other for the purpose of repairs, pushing a teammate along is strictly forbidden
  • Protective windscreens and other aerodynamic aids are not allowed
  • "Drafting" is not allowed in the time trial: a catching cyclist must leave a 2m gap between himself/herself and the rival being caught. Equally, the caught rider must not fall into the catching cyclist's slipstream, and must also observe the 2m rule
