RULES IN BRIEF
At the serve, the shuttle must be hit from below the server's waist and the racket head must be below the height of the server's hand
Both feet must stay on the ground at the serve
Shuttles must be between 6.4cm and 7cm long, and weigh between 4.74g and 5.5g.
A shuttle that lands on a boundary line is considered in bounds.
A player must not hit a shuttlecock until it has crossed over the net into his or her side of the court.
A player's racket can cross over the net in the follow-through motion after a shot.
A let is called when a shuttle gets caught on the net during play. The rally is then replayed.
A fault is called if a player swings and misses while serving.
It is illegal to serve before the receiver is ready though if the receiver returns then the shuttle is considered in play.
It is forbidden to shout or make gestures at opponents.
Players may take no more than 90 seconds rest between the first and second games, and no more than five minutes between the second and third games.
