Britain team escapes accident

Simon Needham, one of the Great Britain team, escaped with a cut on his chin after the bus that was carrying him to a training session shunted into the back of another bus.

The bus carrying Needham and a number of other athletes was moving very slowly in the Olympic Village when the accident happened and, as a result, there were only a few minor injuries to passengers.

"Simon’s fine. He’s got a tiny nick on his chin which he was showing everyone," Rowena Newcomen, the venue press officer, said. "He said the bus stopped and then lurched forward into the back of the bus in front of it."
